Climate

The climate in Rio Gallegos is a so called mid-latitude steppe climate. Our fishing season from late december to late April covers the summer season. In January it is normal to have temperatures reaching 19-20°C degrees with night time temps dropping to 10°C. When we move into April, early autumn, temperatures normally reach 13°C during the day and drop to 3°C at night.

Being an open steppe landscape the sun and wind have a big effect on the weather. Days with no wind and sun in the early months means warm summer days and you’ll be fishing in a t-shirt and wading jacket. Coming into late March and April temperatures are lower and you will need some warm clothes for the windy days.
