This week continued last weeks rainy conditions and added yet lots of more rain showers and maintained the high water level. The minute the brothers Lodovic og Jerome Pommel and their good friend Francois Cardet commenced their first cast for the week they were hit by a cloudburst.
Sunday was a beautiful day almost summer conditions as it should be with blue skies and sun but released again Monday and Tuesday with more rain. That did not stop our french team and they caught several salmon despite the hard odds.
Ludovis and Jerome caught each a 16 lbs fisk, which were biggest fish caught for the week. On top of that they caught a couple of shiny fresh salmon around 14 Lbs. ”Lodo” had big success with a 4 centimeter black and red tube fly, while Jerome caught his fish on Red Butt. Francois 3 biggest fish were between 10-14 lbs, all very fresh and straight from the ocean.
Despite Krivets (11 km), was pretty unfishable due to the high waterlevel the 2 brothers decided to give it a shot Thursday with guide Daniel Podolski, they were rewarded with 3 salmons, 2 from Nick Pool and 1 from Golden Pool and 1 lost.
The week produced 23 salmon for the french team, which is quite an accomplishment looking at the very tough conditions. Seems like Umba always pays off despite conditions. We will be back again in August and with this kind of water level we are even more excited to come back:)
