The final week was not very different from the other weeks this year with lots of rain and cold weather/wind from the North and with water temperature just around 10c and below, jumping up and down. An extreme situation which we haven’t seen before and that have affected all of the Kola Peninsula and Northern Europe. Odd year, climate change ? Looking out the helicopter window leaving the camp for this season made it even more clear with excessive water in the back country. However, the brave and hard fighting team caught almost 100 salmon. Biggest fish caught 15 Lbs. A quick calculation shows we are about 55-77% – depending on the week – down compared to last years fishing.

We wish to thank all the tough and hard working anglers (40) who were with us this year, thanks for your good spirit, unforgettable memories and new friendships. A big thanks to all the staff and hard working guides, you have all been great.

2016 bookings have begun and with a high number of returning rods a BIG thank you for your support! We can’t wait to be back to Grand Varzuga in 2016.

Bye for now Grand Varzuga – we will be back!

All the best,
