We have had some difficulties with our satellite communication, why this late report. Steffen managed however to call me today and it was not the best of news. Varzuga had a flood too – as in Umba – with very high water level which have made the fishing extremely tough producing a very few fish last week. It has been very cold with snow and windy and water temperatures of 6c. This week Varzuga remains very slow but improving in the catches as water level drops and milder and sunny weather has approached us. Varzuga is more than 80 miles from the White sea and the flood and poor weather have slowed everything down this year. Lower and Middle Varzuga are now producing really good numbers so thats a very good sign that any day soon the fish will arrive and we can get the big numbers in the books as Varzuga is all about.
