Our Umba camp manager Igor Kryzhopolskiy mailed me a small report yesterday telling, that we have a lot of snow in the Tersky region (Southen part of Kola Peninsula) this winter. As the photos indicate, Umba river are covered in thick ice right now – even on the toughest and biggest rapids in krivetz thick ice cover the river from bank to bank. During January the daily temperatures has been down to minus 25 – 35C. Now it is just to cross fingers that the spring will not arrive to early like last year. However more snow are expected during the next months according the weather reports. Definitely encouraging information for the upcoming season.

Igor – Thanks for sharing!
