Week 21, 2013. 185 Salmon caught the first week on Grand Varzuga, really good numbers despite the tropical conditions. 4 x 20 Lbs were caught, very exceptional. Quite a few caught between 10-15 Lbs, Grand Varzuga really lived up to its name again “Grand Varzuga- Big Fish Territory”! Floating line, small flies seize 8, Microtubes, Cascade, Red Butt, Willie Gun etc. Must be time now for dry flies, bombers and rifling hitch.
Top Rod, Ben Fletcher with 36 Salmon caught, this is his first time ever catching Salmon, well done:) Grand Varzuga is for sure a place where you run a high “risk” of turning into a real Salmon Junky in just one week. Not the worst addiction to have!
We fish upstream camp now due to the low water levels – plenty of pools/water , no worries- and will continue like this next week should the weather not change. Its Kola and you never know, however it looks like we might get some rain Tuesday, for more details you can have a look here.
New team have arrived – most likely fishing now – and now we wait for a new adventure to report to you.
