Upper Blackhall is perhaps the most beautiful and peaceful beats on the River Dee and is situated 4 miles West of Banchory on the South bank. The beat fishes 3 rods and is opposite Woodend at the top and the infamous Cairnton beat at the bottom (Cairton – The well known mentor of Grease line fishing A.H.E. WOOD beat). There can be no better fly fishing water anywhere, and the 3 miles beat produce fish in both high and low water conditions throughout the season. Access to the beat by car or by walking, and any wading is generally not difficult making the beat suitable for experienced and novice anglers.
