PONOI REPORT – Better weather

Jan (Salmon Junkies camp manager in Acha) called yesterday with a small 2 minutes report. The hot weather has turned into cooler conditions, and the fishing took of immediately after the change. From 22 C in the water the water Temp. Is now down in “modest” 17 – 18C – still hot, but far better than the tropic temperature our French Group had to face in the beginning of the week. I good number of fish in the range of 13 – 18lbb have been caught. Yesterday a monster salmon was lost in beat 5/Falcon Nest pool (one of the very spots for Really big salmon) – the monster fish stripped the reel several times, and the whole show ended up with a broken line. The fish jump a couple of times, and was estimated to 21 to 25lbs. A high number of fresh fish has reached our beats, so the next days looks very promising. The medicine and methods for this kind of summer fishing, is fast fished flies in size 10 – 14. The group is have so far caught approx 130 salmon. More to come from Ponoi…
