My always faithful Black Sheep fly
This Fly was originated in 1977 by Joseph P. Hubert from Minnesota. The Sheep series consists of six patterns that are dressed in a similar manner. In addition to Black, the colour variations are brown, blue, silver, red and green. My own favourite, and probably also the most well known in the sheep series has to be the Black Sheep – I have spent many glorious days along Ponoi and Umba’s streams
So are you planning a visit to one of Russia’s silver streams you MUST bring a bunch of Black sheep flies.
Black sheep original dressing

“There is an indescribable something about a fly dressed by an expert amateur who is a practical salmon fisherman which the fly dressed by a non-angling professional frequently lacks.” – T.E. Pryce-Tannatt
